Abstract:

Businesses across the globe have embraced social media as a key channel for communicating with customers, business partners, and the general public. However, very few organizations have begun to understand the records management implications of social media. The challenges are immense: the data might never pass through the corporate network, communications can be deleted in an instant, and content exists in a variety of non-standardized formats. In this session, we will explore the impact of social media on records management and e-discovery. We will examine a variety approaches taken by organizations to address these challenges, and view examples of social media records management in practice today.

Biography:

Anil Chawla

Anil Chawla is the Founder and CEO of ArchiveSocial (http://archivesocial.com), a social media archiving company that enables businesses to automate records management of activity on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Prior to founding ArchiveSocial, Anil was a lead engineer at IBM responsible for developing enterprise security software and Big Data analysis solutions. He has more than 10 years of experience creating software products, and has spent last the 4 years developing social media technology. Anil founded ArchiveSocial on the premise that businesses face important legal and regulatory challenges that extend far beyond traditional social media management. He frequently speaks on the topics of legal risk, records management, and regulatory compliance as they relate to social media. Anil received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
